Arab Christian Leaders Plead with the Western Church to Join them on Mission
Listen to this compelling webinar featuring key Arab leaders in the Middle East
Several leaders and pastors in the Middle East hosted a webinar to plead with the Western church to join them on mission, recognizing the body of Christ in the Middle East is suffering in a context of war and conflict. These leaders are inviting the global church to unite with them in rekindling the historic role of the Middle Eastern church as a center of mission and outreach.
“The church has a unique calling, not to solve these challenges through political means, but… we are called to bring hope, healing and unity through the gospel of Jesus Christ” says Fares Abraham, leader of Levant Ministries and host of the webinar.
Listen as leaders from Palestine, Israel, Lebanon, Jordan and leading Arab churches and ministries in the USA talk about the challenges and opportunties for partnership in conflict in the Middle East. Many in the West do not know that Arab churches are sending missionaries to other Arab countries for example, or that there are large, growing churches in Lebanon reaching a diverse background of people in the region. There also is a church in Palestine and several Arab Christian colleges and universities equipping people for ministry in the Holy Land.
A joint statement was issued ahead of the webinar by these leaders in the summer of 2024 which says:
“We, Palestinian, Egyptian, Jordanian, Lebanese, Syrian, and Iraqi evangelical leaders representing various churches and Christian ministries, warmly invite our brothers and sisters in the global Church to engage with us, listen to our stories, and together acknowledge the power of unity and the gospel to transform our broken and divided region. We extend this invitation as a reflection of our steadfast commitment to the gospel and our ongoing efforts to make significant contributions to the lives of millions of people across the Middle East. We deeply appreciate the legacy of Western missionaries who arrived nearly two centuries ago to help us deepen our spiritual heritage and we honor the faithfulness of those serving today. Together, we aspire for our churches in the Middle East to reclaim our historic role as centers of outreach (Acts 1:8). Today, we renew our invitation to our global Church family to engage and unite with us to achieve this vision.” (full statement can be found at www.togetherme.org)
